After a dream Hindi film debut with Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan [ Images] in Om Shanti Om, Deepika Padukone [Images ] may soon star opposite Tamil superstar Rajnikanth [ Images] in Shankar's Robot.
According to sources, Deepika is being offered a huge sum to star in this Rs 100 crore venture. On the other hand, some people in Bollywood are advicing her against taking up the role because of the age difference between the 22-year-old actress and the 57-year-old megastar.
Another actress being strongly considered for the role is Aishwarya Rai [ Images]. Ash had been considered for Shankar-Rajni's earlier venture, Sivaji: The Boss as well, but the deal fell through.
While speculation over the casting continues, who would you rather see Rajni romance: Deepika or Ash?

Ayngaran International and Eros multimedia, which would jointly produce the film, promise to make it even more attractive calling it a "hi-tech film" that would be made using "state-of-art technology". Sources in the film industry said the director is still in the process of finalizing the other cast and technicians.
"We are trying for someone like Deepika Padukone or Priyanka Chopra to co-star with Rajni. Nothing is official as yet. The film is expected to have a lot of graphics and new techniques. Most of the film would be shot abroad," said a source.
So will the film too cross the Rs 80 crore budget? "Going by the present plan it looks like it. It could touch at least Rs 100 crore," he said. The filmmakers will borrow techniques from renowned film-makers abroad and introduce them to the Indian film industry. The shooting will commence soon. Eros International, which had won the distribution rights for films including Munna Bhai MBBS , Om Shanti Om and Partner will join hands with Aygran, the pioneers in Tamil film distribution.
Bheema latest Updates!!
The final day of shooting of Sri Surya Movies’ Bheema, at Prasad Studiowas going on. The place is abuzz with technicians and junior dancers. Dance master Brinda is busy teaching some steps to the artistes, while cameraman R.D. Rajasekar reels out instructions to his men.Even as he watches the proceedings, director Lingusamy talks about the much-hyped Vikram-Trisha starrer. “We are shooting for a dream song featuring the lead pair. We have brought in some dancers from Mumbai. The number composed by Harris Jayaraj is melodious. I’m sure it will be a hit with the audience.”Brushing aside rumours that he had made major changes to the script, Lingusamy says, “I do not start shooting without completing the script and having it bound. All my assistant directors have copies of the script. And we stick to it. The production of the film got delayed due to various reasons. It’s got nothing to do with the script. Anyway, we’re close to wrapping it up.” Giving details about the song sequences, the director says, “One song was shot in Switzerland. It took four days for completion and has come out well. For another number, we went to Tuticorin. We bought a big ship and changed its interiors for the shoot. The hero comes in five different guises in the film.”Happy that the film is completed, Vikram says, “I liked the script and was happy to work with director Lingusamy. The film has shaped up well. It has the right dose of sentiment, glamour, music and action. When I saw the film during the dubbing, it was like watching an English film.”Chipping in, Trisha says, she liked the songs and also the film. “The story revolves around a don. Director Seeman says this film is about the troubles and travails of two families. Yuvan Shankar Raja scores the music for this film, which is being produced by Pyramid Saimira. Actor Prithiviraj’s mother Mallika Nair, the veteran Malayalee actress, plays Maddy’s mom while Trotsky Marudhu plays his father. Ilavarasu and ‘Koothu Pattarai’ Muthuswamy play heroine Bhavana’s father and grandfather, respectively. The Maddy–Bhavana pair failed to ignite the screens in their last outing Arya. Guess they want to prove a point this time around.
The gifted musician rehman the great
Rahman: reaching new heights
The music wizard, who made India proud, turns 41 today (January 6). The gifted musician, son of musician R.K. Shekhar, has reached incredible heights at this young age.
Consider these facts: His first ever movie album ‘Roja’ was listed in Time magazine’s "Top 10 Movie Soundtracks of All Time". He has composed the score for the Chinese film Warriors of Heaven and Earth (2003). He has scored music for Hollywood movies like ‘Provoked’ and co-scored for ‘Elizabeth: The Golden Age’. He has received the prestigious Padma Sree award. He has now become an important name in global music scenario.
This is definitely an amazing and incredible travel for a boy, who lost his father at the age of nine. His family had to manage its living by renting out musical equipments of the Shekhar.
The earlier days
Rahman had been served as a keyboardist and an arranger in bands such as "Roots" and "Nemesis Avenue" with friends including Sivamani, embracing numerous music genres. He played the keyboard and piano, in addition to, among others, the synthesizer, the harmonium and the guitar. The young genius began his training in music under Master Dhanraj. At the age of 11, he joined, as a keyboardist, the troupe of composer Ilayaraja. The boy later played in the orchestra of M. S. Viswanathan and Ramesh Naidu. He also accompanied the likes of Zakir Hussain, Kunnakudi Vaidyanathan and L. Shankar on world tours and obtained a scholarship to Trinity College of Music, where he graduated with a degree in Western classical music. The young man with hunger for achieving something started his own music recording and mixing studio, called the Panchathan Record Inn in 1991. He started composing music for advertisements, TV channels, and documentaries. The break came in 1992, when he was approached by director Mani Ratnam to compose the score and soundtrack for ‘Roja’. The dream debut declared to the entire world about the arrival of a genius. It sealed his place as a unique musician. Young Rahman received the prestigious Rajat Kamal award for Best Music Director at the National Film Awards. It was the first time that a film composer receiving the award.
Awards pour in
Rahman’s dream run continued and awards became a routine for him. He got National Awards for three more times after ‘Roja’, for the films ‘Minsaara Kanavu’ (1997), ‘Lagaan’ (2002) and ‘Kannathil Muthamittal’ (2003), the most ever by any composer. He gave distinctive musical scores for number of films like ‘Bombay’, ‘Kadhalan’, ‘Indira’, ‘Jeans’, ‘Muthu’, ‘Indian’, ‘Mudhalvan’ ‘Kandukondein Kandukondein’, ‘Rhythm’ and ‘Love Birds’. His latest works in Tamil, ‘Sivaji’ and ‘Azhagiya Tamil Magan’ too have created a lot of sensation. Rahman has also made distinctive mark in Bollywood. He made his debut in ‘Rangeela’, directed by Ram Gopal Varma. He followed it up with many super hit scores for films including ‘Dil Se’ and ‘Taal’. The sales of these albums created new records in the musical industry. Now the magical musician is working on ‘Chamki Chameli’ and ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ set for release in 2008, along with Hindi version of Tamil blockbuster "Ghajini". Rahman’s versatility in classical, folk, jazz, reggae, soft rock and other styles make his works so special that people go mad over his music. He is well versed in various genres of music including Carnatic music, Western classical, Hindustani and the Qawwali. His scores have a variety covering all these genres. The way he experiments with sound is something unprecedented in Indian musical scenario. He has also made many experiments with various kinds of voices.
Global recognition
In 2002, he composed his maiden stage production Bombay Dreams (2002) following a commission from famous musical theatre composer Andrew Lloyd Webber. Furthermore, Rahman, along with the Finnish folk music band Värttinä, composed the music for The Lord of the Rings theatre production. He composed the piece "Raga's Dance" for Vanessa Mae's album Choreography (2004). In the last six years, he has performed in three successful world tours of his concerts to audiences in Singapore, Australia, Malaysia, Dubai, UK, Canada, the US (Hollywood Bowl and 3d tour) and India. A two-disc soundtrack, Introducing A. R. Rahman, (2006) featuring 25 pieces he composed from his Tamil film scores was released in May 2006.
Inspiring the millions
Though he is liked by youth very much, the older generation too is enthralled by his creativity. He made the entire nation proud when he came up with his album ‘Vande Matharam’ in 1997, India's 50th anniversary of independence. It won’t be an exaggeration to say that the album rekindled the feeling of freedom struggle and a deep sense of patriotism. He did the same magic when he released him ‘Jana Gana Mana’ album last year. He has utilised the great voices and instrumental artists of India Today to bring out the feeling of worshiping our beloved motherland.
IndiaGlitz wishes this amazing man, who can even be considered for the highest civilian award ‘Bharath Rathna’, with many more successes and honors.

Gowtham: Next with Surya and Deepika Padukone
We are back with news about Deepika Padukone folks. Remember our earlier reports about her starring alongside Surya? We now have definite news about her entry in Tamil. She will be seen in Gowtham Menon’s next movie Chennayil Oru Mazhaikkalam opposite Surya, a role for which Asin was considered earlier.
Asin is busy with three big things Pokkiri, Dasavatharam and Aalwar leaving her no dates to spare for Chennayil Oru Mazhaikkalam. The movie has been planned a lot earlier and did not hit the floors for reasons ranging from Gowtham being busy with the release of VV and shooting for his new film Silandhi (Parundhu). Gowtham asserts that Chennayil Oru Mazhaikkalam will begin its shoots as soon as Silandhi is finished. He also confirmed the foray of Deepika Padukone into Tamil with this movie. Does he think that monsoons will be around when he start shooting for the film? That is fine, he says. The title is only meant to be rhetorical.
With that the anticipations surrounding Deepika’s entry into Tamil is over and we are all eyes for the pretty damsel’s arrival that is likely to serve a threat to our lead ladies.
